Born in St. Louis, Missouri on January 13, 1964, Jeffrey L. Boyd grew up with great pride in his hometown. The second child of six, Jeffrey learned the value of hard work and the importance of family at an early age. He attended St. Louis Public Schools and joined the Army his senior year at Northwest High School. In the fall of 1982 Jeffrey left St. Louis for basic training. As a soldier, Jeffrey rose swiftly through the ranks and held a variety of leadership and staff positions. After returning from eight years on active duty , Jeffrey earned his undergraduate degree in Individual Studies from Columbia College.
In 1990 Jeffrey married his wife Patrice, a nurse. Together they settled in the Hamilton Heights Neighborhood where he grew up. Jeffrey and Patrice were not discouraged by the challenges facing Hamilton Heights and began restoring a 4-family flat. This was the beginning of over 20 years experience in neighborhood development. Jeffrey and Patrice now provide affordable housing that his neighbors can be proud of. Jeffrey continued his military service in the reserves earning the rank of Master Sergeant. He retired in August 2005 after a total of 23 years of honorable service.
Jeffrey Boyd is uniquely qualified to lead with his experiences as a former procurement manager and weatherization director and served as the executive director for two community development organizations. Jeffrey owns two growing small businesses. He is also a lifelong community servant that has built relationships and served with the Catholic Campaign for Human Development, United Way, World of Difference, and the National Conference for Community and Justice.
Jeffrey’s commitment to his community extended into civic public service when he was sworn in as Alderman of the 22nd Ward of the City of St. Louis in April 2003. He is also committed to personal development and completed is Masters in Business Administration in 2009. For the nearly 14 years Alderman Boyd has worked tirelessly to bring investment dollars to the 22nd Ward. Jeffrey saved the city thousands of dollars by sponsoring an Anti-cruising Bill, reducing police overtime expenses, and creating safer neighborhood travel. He also worked diligently on the $34M redevelopment of the Arlington Grove Apartments that began in 2010. Most recently Jeffrey sponsored a Veterans bill that grants veterans hiring preferences for veterans seeking employment with the city. This bill had unprecedented support with 100% of the Board of Alderman co-signing the bill. The legislation passed by majority vote with overwhelming approval from the citizens of St. Louis on election day.
Jeffrey has earned a reputation as a strong advocate for the 22nd Ward and the City of St. Louis.He knows all too well the challenges of crime and public safety after losing his nephew to gun violence. Jeffrey has committed to serving the people of the City of St. Louis and providing a long term vision for restoring faith in the Arch City. Jeffrey L. Boyd, a candidate for Mayor of the city of St. Louis, and his wife Patrice are the parents of three children, Jeffery Jr., Brittany, Kayla and granddaughter Darrielle Davis.
